DJLConsulting

Privacy

The short version: I only hold what you send me, I use it to reply to you and to do the work we agree, and I do not sell it or pass it to anyone who does not need it.

Who I am

This site is run by Daniel Latham, trading as DJLConsulting, based in Weaverham, Northwich, Cheshire. For data protection purposes I am the data controller, and you can reach me at daniel@djlconsulting.co.uk or on +44 7413 000572.

What I collect and why

Contact form and email. Your name, email address, company and the content of your message. Used to reply and to assess whether the work is a fit. Lawful basis: legitimate interest, in that you have made contact and would expect a response.

Client engagements. Contact details, the contract, invoices and the documents and data required to carry out the work. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, and legal obligation in the case of financial records.

LinkedIn and telephone. LinkedIn's privacy notice governs LinkedIn. Calls are not recorded.

I do not purchase marketing lists, and contacting me does not add you to a mailing list.

Cookies, analytics and server logs

This site does not use analytics tools and sets no cookies.

As with most websites, the server keeps standard access logs recording the page requested, the time, the IP address and the browser type. These are used to keep the site secure and to understand how it is used, including whether a link sent by email has been opened, as some links carry a short reference for that purpose. Lawful basis: legitimate interest. Logs are deleted automatically after 30 days.

Processors

Contact form submissions are delivered by my own server rather than a third party form service. Email is provided by Microsoft 365 and accounting records are held in QuickBooks. Each acts as a processor on my instructions. Where data is stored outside the UK, transfers rely on UK adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

Information is not shared with anyone else unless required by law.

Retention

Records are deleted within six months, unless an ongoing engagement requires them to be kept for longer, or the law does. Financial records are the usual legal exception, as HMRC requires those to be held for six years.

Your rights

You may request a copy of the information I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how it is used. Email daniel@djlconsulting.co.uk. Requests are answered within one month and there is no charge.

Complaints about how your information has been handled can be made to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
